Green

I want to put water out for wild animals
and watch them drink

I want to take myself out of the city
for some time to think

I don’t know what lies out their beyond the highway
But I’m gonna go anyway

I don’t know how to get anywhere
without my fucking phone

I don’t even know how to grocery shop
when the store isn’t right down the road

I need to go where it’s green
Where the sun shines from morning til night
Where steel buildings and cigarette smoke don’t block the light

In their shadows
Today I decide
I’m taking back my life
